I think these were originally named “Babe Ruth Bars”, but I have always known them as Babe Reese Bars, so that’s what we’re going with 😉 These have been Brad’s specialty since teaching Vacation Bible School to other ranch kids long before we met. A perfect blend of oats, peanut butter, and chocolate they are a perfect snack, and are often enjoyed for breakfast here on the Ranch. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
Babe Reese Bars
Bar Ingredients
- 2/3 Cup (5 1/3 TBSP) Butter, melted
- 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
- 2/3 Cup Crunchy Peanut Butter (Smooth PB is yummy, too)
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 4 Cups Quick Oats (Old Fashioned do not work as well. Use Gluten-Free Certified Oats if needed.)
Topping Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 Tablespoon Corn Syrup
Directions
- Heat Oven to 350, and grease your 13×9 pan.
- Mix The Main Ingredients together in a medium to large bowl.
- Spread into prepared pan. A greased spatula really helps get everything spread out.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the bars are just starting to brown.
Topping
- While your bars are baking, combine the topping ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly and allow to come to a boil.
- Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
- Pour and spread over baked bars.
- Enjoy!
