I almost gave up on roasts til I discovered this recipe. The original recipe can be found here. I’ve tweaked it a little and my version is below, but feel free to make it your own! I have not yet had a roast that did not turn out- whether beef, buffalo, or wild game- so I hope you like it! 🙂 -Heather
Rockin’ 7 Roast Recipe
- 1 Roast (Any size- if it’s real big or potentially tough, go with longer times. I have had success with both thawed and frozen roasts.)
- Any veggies you want- we like carrots and potatoes
Sauce-
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 package Brown Gravy Mix
- 1 Package Dry Onion Soup Mix
- 1 Can Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 Can Cola (Coke or generic)
Instructions-
- Preheat oven to 350.
Place Roast in the bottom of a Dutch Oven and add Veggies.
Mix the sauce ingredients and pour over Roast. - Put the lid on the Dutch Oven and stick it in the oven.
Cook for 1 hour at 350. - Then reduce temp to 225 and keep cooking for 6 or more hours longer. The time depends on the size of your roast and whether it was thawed or frozen. When in doubt, go longer! I like to flip the roast halfway, and evaluate at 6 hours.
- If you can’t shred it with a fork, check every hour or so until you can. It makes its own gravy, so if your meat seems dry- shred it all up into the gravy.
Enjoy!
